Amplification Technologies designed and developed near infrared single photon counting discrete amplificattion photodetectors (DAPD). These detectors feature gain >100,000, excess noise factor <1.1, response time <500ps, with photon counting capability. Unlike conventional GM-APDs, these detectors do not need an external quenching circuit and operate in a non-gated continuos mode. The DAPD technology enables linear and 2D photondetector arrays by offering the combination of high gain, low noise factor and high speed operation using conventional semiconductor fabrication processes.
